How to Change your HP Officejet 6979 Ink Cartridges Refill

  1. Open your machine’s ink cartridge access door, then let the carriage transfer to the replacement position before you proceed.
  2. Press the tab in front of the used ink cartridge to release it, then pull the device from the slot.
  3. Get the new HP 6979 ink cartridge, get rid of the packaging, then pull the orange pull-tab backward.
  4. Hold the new ink cartridge at the sides, then turn the protective cap to remove it from the device.
  5. Position the ink cartridge so the contacts are facing down, then locate it's matching color on the carriage
  6. Slip the new ink cartridge into the slot, then slowly press it down until it clicks into position.
  7. Repeat prior steps while installing the other ink cartridges, as needed.
  8. Close the Officejet 6979 ink cartridge access door to finish the installation.
