How to Change your HP Officejet PRO 6974 Ink Cartridges Refill

  1. Press the printer’s Power Button, if you haven’t done it yet. Wait till the printer is silent and idle before moving on.
  2. Open the device’s ink cartridge access door and stay put as the carriage transfers to the printer’s center. Wait till the carriage is silent and idle before moving on.
  3. To let go of the old ink tank, press the tab in front of the device, then expel it from the slot.
  4. On the new HP Officejet PRO 6974 ink tank, pull the orange pull-tab backward to peel out the plastic wrap.
  5. Turn the orange cap counterclockwise to remove from the ink tank.
  6. Insert the ink tank into the vacant slot and make sure the it’s contacts face the printhead. Press it down until it’s seated securely.
  7. If the ink tank doesn’t snap into position, get rid of it from the carriage. Gently turn the tab from the cartridge, and then put it back into the carriage.
  8. Repeat the steps when replacing the other ink tanks, if needed.
  9. Close the printer’s ink cartridge door – the carriage will return to the printer’s right side.
