How do I change the ink in my HP Deskjet F4580?
- Push the printer’s Power button on, if it isn’t turned on yet.
- Open the cartridge access panel – the carriage should move to the printer’s center. Wait until the machine is silent and idle before proceeding.
- Gently press the cartridge down to release it and remove it out of the slot.
- Unpack the new cartridge – don’t touch the ink cartridge’s black plastic.
- Pull out the colored tab and get rid of the plastic tape.
- Hold the cartridge along the sides with the nozzles facing the printer, then insert it into the slot at a slightly upward angle. Ensure that the cartridge’s icon matches the slot’s icon. The black cartridge goes to the right-side slots while the tri-color cartridges go into the left-side slots.
- Carefully push the cartridge until it locks into place.
- Repeat steps 4-7 with the other cartridges as necessary.
- Close the cartridge access panel.
