How to Change Epson XP446 Ink Cartridges

1. Please turn on your Epson XP-446 printer. Connect its Power cord to a power supply and then press its Power button.
   
   
2.  Gently lift its Scanner Unit to gain access to the Cartridge Compartment.
   
   
3. Remove the Empty Epson XP446 Printer Ink Cartridge by pinching its Cartridge Tab and then pulling it out from its slot.
   
   
4. Slowly shake the Epson 446 Ink for 4 or 5 times before taking it out from its package.
   
   
5. Remove its Protective Taping. Make sure to strip off just the Yellow Tape.
   
   
6. Put the New Cartridge into the Cartridge Holder and press it down until it clicks into place. Make sure to place the Cartridge on the correct slot.
   
   
7. Repeat the same steps for each 288 ink colors.
   
   
8. Close the Scanner Unit. Wait for a few minutes for the Epson XP-466 to fully re-charge the ink. A completion message will appear on the LCD screen to confirm that the ink replacement is successful.

a. What ink does Epson XP 446 use?

The Epson Expression XP-466 printer uses Epson 288 ink which comes in four individual color cartridges: Black (T288120-S), Cyan (T288220-S), Magenta (T288320-S), and Yellow (T288420-S).  The Epson 288 black cartridge can print up to 175 pages while the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow cartridges can give you a maximum of 165 pages each.

All four cartridges are also available in high yield options. The high yield 288 XL black cartridge (T288XL120-S) can print up to 500 pages. Each of the three high yield color cartridges, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, (T288XL220-S, T288XL320-S, T288XL420-S) can give you a total of 450.

b. Will the Epson XP-446 work with black ink?

The Epson Expression XP-446 printer will keep on working temporarily with black ink if a color cartridge runs out. However, if it’s a black ink cartridge that gets empty, the printer won’t continue printing even if all color cartridges are in full capacity.
